Terms of service
These terms set out the agreement between you and Compass EV when you use this website, take the free quiz, or order a buyer report. By using the service you accept these terms.
1. Who we are
Compass EV is a trading name of Compass EV Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
TODO before launch: company number and registered office address.
2. What we do
We produce independent buyer reports for people considering an electric vehicle. We do not receive commissions, kickbacks, referral fees, or payments of any kind from car manufacturers, dealers, brokers, finance providers, or insurance providers. Your fee is the only money we receive in connection with your report.
3. The free EV suitability quiz
The quiz is an automated assessment based on the answers you give. It is intended as a pointer, not advice. Use it to decide whether to look further into an EV — not as the basis of a purchase decision.
4. The buyer report
When you order a buyer report you are commissioning a written research and recommendation document, prepared specifically for you, based on the brief we agree with you in advance.
What it is: independent research, written analysis, and a recommendation based on your stated needs.
What it isn’t: regulated financial advice. Compass EV is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. If you decide to use finance or a salary sacrifice scheme to acquire your vehicle, the regulated party is the lender, broker, or scheme provider — not Compass EV.
5. The brief, payment, and the work
- You complete the intake questionnaire.
- We turn your answers into a brief and send it to you for confirmation.
- You confirm the brief and pay the fee. The fee is currently £199.
- We deliver your report within the timeframe stated in the brief — normally 48 hours.
- You can ask follow-up questions for 14 days from delivery, by email or WhatsApp.
You are not charged until you have confirmed the brief.
6. Our guarantees
- Redo guarantee. If the report doesn’t answer the brief you confirmed, we will redo it once at no extra cost. Tell us within 14 days of delivery.
- Factual-error refund. If we get a verifiable, material fact about a vehicle wrong (battery size, charging speed, price band, recall status, etc.), we will refund the £199 fee in full.
These guarantees are in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and do not limit them.
7. What you agree to do
- Answer the intake honestly. Inaccurate answers produce inaccurate reports.
- Use the report for your own purchase decision, not for republication or resale.
- Treat any third-party listings or quotes we link as a snapshot in time — pricing and availability change daily, and you should verify before committing.
8. Cancellation and refunds
Because the buyer report is a digital service tailored to you, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of placing the order — but if you have asked us to start work (i.e. confirmed the brief) within that period, you accept that you lose that cancellation right once the report has been delivered.
You can cancel before brief confirmation at any time at no cost (we have not yet been paid). After brief confirmation but before delivery, we will refund the fee minus any work already completed at our standard hourly rate. After delivery, the guarantees above apply.
9. Liability
We will use reasonable skill and care in producing your report, but the recommendation is a judgement call based on the brief and the publicly available information at the time of writing. The decision to buy any vehicle is yours.
Subject to clause 10, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the fee you paid for the report.
10. Things we don’t exclude
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
11. Intellectual property
The report we deliver to you is for your own use. You may share it with members of your household, your accountant, or anyone you involve in the purchase decision, but not republish it publicly or resell it.
12. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy notice.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the version in force when you confirmed the brief. The current version is always at this URL.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
